Do you believe that our American values are worth protecting?
Unalienable rights. Self-government. Traditional families. Right to bear arms. Personal responsibility. Free enterprise. Limited government. Parental rights. The sanctity of life. Election integrity. The rule of law. National sovereignty.
These aren't just political talking points. They are principles which have helped shape our country and given generations of Americans the opportunity to live, work, worship, raise families, and pursue the American Dream.
These principles are reflected in the Republican Party platform. They are also values that NFRA, our national organization, has identified as worth preserving. As an NFRA-affiliated organization, TCRA upholds these values as well.
These aren't just abstract ideas written into a political platform or a government document. These principles have real-world impact on the daily lives of Americans.
They affect whether a family can afford to put food on the table, whether a young couple can afford a home, how much people pay in taxes, whether a business can grow and create jobs, and what we pay at the gas pump. They ultimately affect whether people can provide for their families and build a future.
It may be hard to believe, but there are people who hate America, who are working to undermine the Constitutional framework and the principles on which our nation was built. They aren't simply seeking to change a policy or win an election. Their end-goal is to fundamentally change the very system that has made America great.
Voters from all walks of life are concerned about some of the same things: jobs, the price of gas and groceries, whether they can afford a place to live, rising property taxes, and insurance rates. What they don't always see is the connection between their concerns and the principles which help create a prosperous economy: free enterprise, limited government, personal responsibility, and economic opportunity.
Elections have consequences. What happens in November will determine who will make the decisions that shape our economy, families, communities, and government.
As the Democrat Party and its leaders have moved further left, embracing more socialist policies that challenge our Constitutional framework, we have an opportunity to help voters understand how the issues they care about are connected to the conservative principles that we believe are worth protecting, and why the people we elect to uphold those principles matter.
But here's something important: We may not like every candidate on our slate. That's okay. We don't have to agree on (or like) every candidate to recognize what is at stake. Now that the Primary is behind us, we must put principles over personalities, put aside our differences, pull together, and work toward the things we have in common: the conservative values we believe are worth preserving.
While the Republican party champions conservative values, those values will not win elections on their own. We need people willing to take action.
Here's the best news! You don't have to be a precinct chair, an elected official, or hold any special title to make a difference. You don't even need years of political experience.
You just need a willingness to help.
EVERYONE can make a difference in this upcoming election.
There are countless ways to help our Republican candidates win in November: knocking doors in your neighborhood, sending text messages, making phone calls, writing postcards, attending campaign events, displaying a yard sign, encouraging friends and neighbors to vote, working as a poll greeter for a candidate, or donating to a candidate's campaign. There is a place for everyone.
To help you get involved, we will have in-person training for the Abbott Impact App at our TCRA meeting on Tuesday, August 18. Our trainer, Quinton Hitchcock from the Abbott Campaign, actually helped develop the app, and he does an excellent job explaining how it works.
The Abbott Impact App is an easy-to-use phone app that makes door knocking and text messaging simple and fun!
Whether you are new to volunteering for campaigns or you have been doing it for years, I hope you will join us! If you are already familiar with the app, please consider attending and sitting beside someone who might be a little less tech savvy.
Unable to door-knock? No problem. The Abbott Impact App provides other ways to connect with voters from the comfort of your home (or wherever you happen to be), including sending text messages and reminders to friends, neighbors, and others.
What is important is that you find a campaign activity you enjoy doing and commit to doing it consistently. No task is too small. Like the story of the tortoise and the hare, small steady efforts add up. When we all do our part, those small efforts create the momentum necessary to get us across the finish line.
